S&OP design and implementation at Lotus Bakeries

Lotus Bakeries began baking caramelized biscuits in Belgium in 1932 and focuses on authentic specialties in the biscuit & cake world and healthy snacks. By maintaining a healthy balance between tradition and innovation, Lotus Bakeries indulges consumers with a unique range of products and brands as Lotus Speculoos / Biscoff, Dinosaurus, Suzy, Peijnenburg and Annas.

Today Lotus Bakeries, is a dynamic, internationally oriented company with production facilities in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Sweden, own sales organizations in Europe, China & the United States and an export department for the Middle East and Asia.

In 2015 EyeOn conducted a planning scan for their strategic products caramelized biscuits & Dinosaurus and production in the Lembeke plant in Belgium. The scan resulted in various recommendation for planning improvements with primary focus on demand planning capabilities, supply balancing and communication between functions and departments.

In the second half of 2015 Lotus Bakeries and EyeOn designed a volume based S&OP process for the all products produced in Lembeke whereby world-wide demand data and a regular process are driving the supply chain to create an achievable, actionable and resourced operational plan. The process is supported by a tailor made tool for demand planning developed by EyeOn Solutions and Lotus Bakeries existing infrastructure for supply planning. The new planning processes went live end of 2015 and will gain maturity in 2016. Roll-out to other production plants will be evaluated in 2016 for roll-out to other products and manufacturing plants.
